Eighth Day Lands Two SGN Music Award Nominations

eigth daySPARTANBURG, S.C. – Popular Southern Gospel trio Eighth Day earned their first career nominations in the 2009 SGN Music Awards.

Eighth Day earned two nominations in this year’s awards program.  The trio landed a nomination in the Breakthrough Artist of the Year category which honors new and excelling artists in the field of Southern Gospel music.

Scott Robinson of Eighth Day said, “We are very honored to have received this nomination.  We would like to thank the staff at SoGospelNews.com for honoring us like this.”

Eighth Day is joined in the Breakthrough Artist of the Year category by Aaron & Amanda Crabb, Crabb Revival, Driven Quartet, and Shiloh.

In addition, the trio’s latest release, Everything Holy, landed a nomination in the category of Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year.

Everything Holy is nominated alongside projects by Mike & Kelly Bowling, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, The Glovers, and Misty Freeman.

Nominees for the SGN Music Awards were decided on by the staff of SoGospelNews.com.  Winners will be announced at a special Awards Celebration.  The date of the 2009 SGN Music Awards Celebration is Tuesday, April 14, 2009.  The event will be held in Smyrna, Tennessee at the River of Life Church.  Additional information such as performers and hosts will be announced at a later date.

Eighth Day recently scored their second consecutive #1 song.  The group’s current single – “Everything Holy to Me” – took the #1 spot on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart on the January 19, 2009 edition of the chart.  The GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Chart is the only chart in Southern Gospel music that is based solely on the votes of fans and readers of GospelMusicTimes.com.

“Everything Holy to Me” is the second consecutive #1 song on the GospelMusicTimes.com Top 40 Fan Chart for Eighth Day.  The group’s last single – “Rolled Away Stone” – reached the #1 spot last year.

“Everything Holy to Me” is the debut single from Eighth Day’s SGN Music Award nominated project Everything Holy.  The song is currently sitting at #28 on the March 2009 issue of the Singing News Top 80.  It is also charting at #16 on the SoGospelNews.com Top 40 Weekly Chart and #74 on the February 2009 issue of the Christian Voice Magazine’s Southern Gospel Top 100 chart.
