ATMWhat are your thoughts on churches with ATM machines in the lobby?

What about coffee shops in the lobby/narthex?

What about ATM machines that are used for tithe payings, within the church?

  1. I think it's okay as long as it's not made a "the focus" rather than the teaching of the WORD OF GOD.
  2. These are different times, methods of payment are changing. Why shouldnt the church also allow easier methods of contribution? It also takes away that lame non-giving excuse " I didn't bring any cash...".
  3. I think we as Christians are too religious at times. I understand adding an ATM can be the start of a slippery slope, but cash is not dirty (spiritually). There's not much difference if I am already at church and run back out before service because I forgot my tithes or what have you. It ok to have I believe, but we should use wisdom in its placement and promotion from the pulpit. Also, as previously stated, if there is integrity with the leadership financially it will all work out.
  4. I don't have an issue with it...as long as it is not all out in the open just looking like an eye sore. I would even take it one step further...what about direct depositing it into the church's account??? I have some friends that are able to do that at their churches.

People don't carry cash. Also if the church you attend is in a really bad area it saves the church from being potentially held up.
  5. I think it's awesome! I have left to go get cash after church in order to give. It would be very convenient!!!!
  6. I dig it. So many times I want to bless someone directly, or give more than I anticipated and I don't like writing checks. Plus it's more secure than giving a church your atm debit card number!
  7. I don't really see anything wrong with it. If we look back into history the first bank was actually a church who's pastor wanted to promote dignity and responsibility for each of his members. It was a way to store money as well as withdraw money that was already their own when needed. So, there is nothing new about church and banking. ATM or not faith is still required to take care of church business. In my opinion as believer's and givers we should rather give our money to our churches that we trust in faith as opposed to secular banks that does who knows what with our money. Give the church that $2.00 withdrawal fee.
  8. As long as the pastor not cheating people out there money.
  9. Some people have a SERIOUS problem with it but I'm not soo sold on the 'issue'... The 'church' for a while has fell from it's graces as being the innovators and end up the last ones to do things on a grander scale than the last generation...

In our society, people don't carry cash as much as they used to... and EVERYWHERE else we are able to access money through electronic means. (Restaurants, movie theatres, convenience stores) It makes perfect sense if you don't have cash anywhere you would need to spend it to be able to have access to it.

My church does this more discreetly than having the actual machine, we have a credit card machine in back where the financial staff are the only ones with access... On our envelopes, we fill out the appropriate info and they do the processing... Now instead of giving what the atm only spits out, I can give exactly the amount I have 'purposed in my heart to give' and not worry about getting change!
