David said to Saul, "Let no one lose heart on account
of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him." 33
Saul replied, "You are not able to go out against this Philistine
and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from
his youth." 34 But David said to Saul, "Your
servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came
and carried off a sheep from the flock, 35 I went after it, struck it and
rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it
by its hair, struck it and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both the
lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of
them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. 37
The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the
bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." Saul said
to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you.” 1 Samuel 17:32-37 (NIV).
Be honest, you ever found yourself wondering if victory was really meant
for you? You’re out there giving it all you’ve got and you still
seem to come up short? And to make matters worse, even the very thing
you’re fighting on behalf of doesn’t see your true value?

“As she kept on praying to the LORD, Eli observed
her mouth. 13 Hannah was praying in her heart and her lips were moving
but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk 14 and said to
her, "How long will you keep on getting drunk? Get rid of your
wine." 15 "Not so, my lord," Hannah replied, "I
am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or
beer; I was pouring out my soul to the LORD. 16 Do not take your servant
for a wicked woman; I have been praying here out of my great anguish
and grief." 17 Eli answered, "Go in peace, and may the God
of Israel grant you what you have asked of Him.” 1 Sam 12-17 (NIV)
It’s been a tough couple of weeks.
Family tripping over petty stuff. Friends talking in circles. People
who normally ‘get me’ totally misreading the consistency of my actions.
Co-workers speaking to me in riddles instead of just being direct. Last
week I actually found myself wanting to tell everyone where to go and
how to get there. And I know I’m not supposed to say that, but that’s
just how I was feeling. I can’t explain it but it seemed as if out
of no where; I was catching hell from all sides. Yeah, if I could sum
up how I was feeling, I'd have to call it: Hannah-ish. And yeah. It’s
a word (smile). And I’m sure after some of you check my definition;
you’ll feel me here too. Let’s review facts:

I’ve always been a bit tenacious.
When I was 5, I learned how to swim by diving unaccompanied into the deep end of our pool. Some months later, on Easter Sunday, I figured out how to ride a bike by tethering myself between two porch posts while still wearing my Easter dress. Granted I got tore up for ripping my dress, but I learned (smile). Then when I was 8, I turned my mother’s pantry into a “candy store” and sold Now & Laters, to the neighborhood kids. Costco didn’t have anything on me, LOL. It’s funny. In looking back I can see how I’ve always had this “can do” mentality. And in looking back at all of my little life’s lessons, it amazes me to see how they still serve me today.
I always share about how when I begin casting vision for Glow, there was no one around to teach me how to incorporate my business. No one gave me the ABC’s of establishing governmental and corporate identity. There wasn’t even anyone to tell me the ins & outs of corporate accounting. No, everything learned was PURELY God’s grace. Yet out of all the things God has imparted, one of the things I hold to most is that fact that we’re a group of women who simply love God. Yeah. We love Him and we’re not about the “funny” side of business. You know what the “funny” side is:

1.“Now the whole world had one language
and a common speech”.
2. As men moved eastward,
a. They found a plain in Shinar
b. They settled there.
3. They said to each other, "Come,
let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead
of stone, and tar for mortar.
4. Then they said, "Come, let us
build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so
that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the
face of the whole earth."
5. But the LORD came down to see the
city and the tower that the men were building.
6. The LORD said, "If as one people
speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing
they plan to do will be impossible for them.
7. Come, let us go down and confuse
their language so they will not understand each other."
8. So the LORD scattered them from there
over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.” Genesis 11:1-8
(NIV)

“An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.” Proverbs 24:26 (NIV)
Question, have you ever been kissed? I mean like really kissed? Like kissed with such intensity that you cheeks tingled, you began to blush and forgot your own name? Yeah, me neither, LOL. I’m funny. And don’t even try to front as if you didn’t play kissing games growing up. Heck, some of y’all are still struggling with kissing games now. Mmm, hmmm just fast! LOL, Nevertheless, that’s not what this is about today. No, here’s the real deal:
This is about honesty:
Most who know me know that I’m a bit of a spitfire when it comes to telling the truth. Now let me qualify this for all of my theologians, know that I’m not speaking of an unbridled tongue or being quick to speak. I’m talking about sharing honestly, soberly and according to biblical measure. And say what you will, but I think there’s something to be said for those willing to hold each other accountable. It’s sad nowadays. People don’t really do that anymore. We see obvious wrong, yet choose to ignore it for whatever reason. Yet if you think about it, it really takes a brave person to look someone in the face, and say the difficult thing. Really, people will tell you you’re great, but who’s going to tell you when you’re being a butt? And how much more beneficial would it be if someone said, “You know you’re a nice girl, but your attitude can be kinda stank sometimes.” Or “You seem like a cool dude, but the way your carry yourself makes your integrity seem faulty.”
