Brooklyn Tabernacle ChoirOver a nearly 30-year career, the 300-voice Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has distinguished itself with six Grammy awards, nine Dove Awards, a RIAA gold video certification, performances at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden, two #1 hits, and over four million in albums sales.   Now, the esteemed choir will help usher in the holidays with a live performance on ABC Television’s “Good Morning America” program on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 between 7 :00 and 9:00 AM EST.

The choir ‘s new CD Declare Your Name (Integrity Music) has debuted at #7 on Billboard’s gospel album sales chart. The album cover boasts three purple flags signifying not only Biblical royalty but also the countries where the choir is declaring the name of the Lord, from the Great Wall of China to Big Ben in England. The church is giving away 6000 flags with the purchase of the CD at its bookstore. Consumers will  then be encouraged to "Plant the Flag" of the Lord's rule in key places they may travel.

The new CD features cameos by Israel Houghton on the upbeat anthem “Ill Sing of Your Love” and Paul Baloche on the acoustic ballad “Helpless.”  Pop star Jonathan Butler shows up for the Caribbean-flavored “It All Belongs to You” and “Coming Back.” Alicia Olatuja’s majestic soprano soars on the lush “Wonderful to Me” while the set closes with the triumphant, hand-clapper “Declare Your Name.”

All  thirteen songs were composed by choir founder Carol Cymbala and her in-house songwriting team that includes choir director Onaje Jefferson and assistant director, Jason Michael Webb. “One of the objectives that we had was to be able to create - with God’s help - songs that the world could sing,” says Jason Michael Webb. By that, he means uncomplicated songs with easy refrains and moderate vocal modulations. He continues, “The basic thing we can understand is that the earth is the Lord s and the fullness thereof and everything we see he created and it all belongs to him. All of the songs relate to that.” Visit www.brooklyntabernacle.org for more information.
